The last part of our MSOB Golf competition was for Singles events, Div 1, Div 2 and Div 3.  The superb weather that we had during the Doubles continued through for the 3 days of Singles.

A reduced Div 1 field still saw a hard day of playing as we chose to play as a singles group but that meant 7 x 1 hour matches.  Winner was Gordon Giles from the Wynnum club with our Gabby Spencer as the runner-up.

Div 2 saw the traditional 2 blocks of 6 format with the winner of each block playing off in a final.  This was an extremely competitive group as around 25% of the 60 games played, timed out (after 50 minutes) before someone could score their winning 7 hoops.  It was also a group that played good croquet.  One of the referees commented that they called a lot more faults on the Div 1 players compared to this group!!!

In the end it was an all Eildon Club final with the winner being Robert Kidd.

Div 3 was pretty much a Southport club match.  It was very pleasing to see so many members stepping up to play in a competition.  Clearly a highlight was Gwenda Brennan winning her last 3 hoops with jump shots in her last match to get into the final.  In the end it was a Southport vs Coolangatta final with the winner being Gwenda.

On a final note, I have received numerous compliments from visiting players about the hospitality received during the tournament.  A big credit and thanks to all that assisted over the 5 days involved.
