Over the weekend of 15^th 16^th our MSOB annual tournament opened with a great 2 days of Ricochet. The weather was kind except for a passing shower on Saturday morning while Barbara Northcott was setting the courts.  The competition was very competitive with 8 players making up 2 blocks of 4. There were entries from Tweed, BHPB, Toowoomba, Toronto and Southport. The final was played between the winners of both blocks with Ruth Mulvaney (Toronto) defeating Steve Scrimgeour (BHPB) 13/11. It was touch and go for Ruth as she was well down in hoop count over halfway through the game. Our long time Patron Dawn Critchlow was on hand to do the presentation to the winner and runner up.

There was a lot of effort put in to making this a successful 2 days. I thank the court setters Barbara Northcott and Charles Ernst. I thank the referees Barbara Northcott, Julia Vickers, Lois Rolls and Keith McLeod. Thank you Julia Vickers for doing the computer work. Now to the caterers Kerry Lamerton  and  Murray Trainor on Saturday and Donna Nicholson on Sunday with some assistance from Rob Nicholson during the cleaning up.  You all did an amazing job in the kitchen providing lunch of soup & sandwiches with sweets to follow for everyone. The comments from the players were very appreciative.

The raffle raised $81.00 and was won by Frances Wright from Toowoomba.

All in all a very successful opening to Mallet Sports On The Broadwater
